As a Coach, I have worked for the past twenty-three years helping young athletes avoid pitfalls connected with not believing in their design and abilities.
On National Signing Day 1998, I was blessed to have my education paid in full by ten Division I basketball programs, one Division II program (two sports), and offers to play at more than 50 Division III schools. It was a shock to many when I turned them all down, opting instead to go to a small Division III school in PA, where I eventually decided not to play at all.
Basketball was not my first sport. No local coaches were interested in helping an awkward pre-teen find his sea legs, so I stopped trying and stuck with baseball.
After a huge growth spurt the summer before my sophomore year, our high school coach asked me to ignore my past experiences and reconsider playing. I agreed, and by the Summer of my Junior year, an onslaught of colleges came calling. It was utterly overwhelming. My Family had no guidance throughout the process - decision anxiety and personal doubts made the game more chore than fun.
It is a personal mission of mine to offer our next generations the care, support, training, information, and resources unavailable to me years ago, helping clear away the noise that so often precedes a failure to launch.
